Ingolf Wunder’s Offical Message

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Girls and Boys, Mothers and Fathers… I would like to share something with you.
In 2011, six years ago, I hit on an idea. I didn’t know how and when I would realize it but I knew that I would. It was a similar drive to the one that brought me to the piano at the age of 14, and made me become a pianist. I just knew I must. That’s it. Decided. I became obsessed with it.
I didn’t think a second how I would combine the work on the idea with my profession (the one on stage) and all other aspects of my life. And I’m happy I didn’t!
To put it very mildly: it wasn’t easy and without my wife, who is the co-author of the project in 50%, it would be impossible. The last two years, when I slightly slowed down my career (risky move!) in order to have more time for the project realization, were tough, sometimes painful, cruel, full of doubts and tears... And filled up to the maximum with work “behind closed doors”. A 15-hour-work-day on average became a standard. Piano practice intertwined with technological conferences, planning and testing...
After a very long time spent on working, re-working, learning, thinking, re-thinking, investing, worrying, hoping and, again, working… I am simply happy to introduce APPASSIO.com – the first in this form: EXCLUSIVELY for all ART subjects, real-time online learning/teaching startup and a community platform in one. Dedicated to Teachers, Students, Art Lovers of any age and parents. For professionals and amateurs. For people with passion. For many of you.
My wife and I, we love art and this is something that we live for, take energy from and believe in. That is why we found important to create a place where all artistic subjects meet, co-exist and together become stronger. Where pupils can find out that art is fascinating and helps to shape one’s personality, taste and imagination. Where students can work on their talent. Where art lovers can widen their horizons. Where artists can seek help of any kind. Where individualists can find the right teachers. And where the teachers are independent.
We created APPASSIO with heart and devotion, and the way as we would like to use it ourselves: a secure platform with a flexible system that gives everybody freedom, room for individuality and provides a quality-online-lesson-experience. With community features for those who want to share their work, grow their artistic network and keep in touch with other users online and offline, and with privacy settings for the ones that don’t want to be visible.
The whole platform is custom-made and its sound options are tailored separately for music lessons and spoken subjects. I’m crazy about the sound and this subject was very important for me: it gave me many sleepless nights, headaches and aspirins swallowed.
We did our utmost to provide you with the best currently possible quality (audio and video) – the rest depends on your gear and the Internet connection. We use all up-to-date technologies and, although I’m Austrian and my wife Polish, we can put a Swiss stamp on it as well, since we live in Switzerland and the whole idea matured there and has its roots… and the server.
As my last point, I would like to forestall one question by giving the answer right away: No, I do NOT plan to quit as a pianist. I love playing the piano way too much to be ever able to stop, but I also feel the need of doing something more. Something that may, in a way, help: some of you and the beautiful and diverse world of culture. Especially now, when, my wife and I feel and believe, it needs to be united in order to be more important and act as a counterbalance to the world’s craziness. Arrogant and bold thought? Hmm… rather a shy dream of mine. But… as Vincent van Gogh said: “One must work and dare if one really wants to live.” I love to work and I love to live. And art is my life.
If I may I would like to ask you to share the info with people who might be interested: enthusiasts, artistic souls, individualists, people with skills and knowledge, specialists in one particular subject or fully devoted artists. Students, pupils, kids and their parents. All those who want to teach or learn (or both!) and stay closer to people who share similar interests and passions, regardless of the distance.
Appassio is a newborn and this is just our humble beginning. We will do our best to continue working on developing the platform to meet the standards and requirements you need. And to serve this, what we find essential and what makes the world a better and more inspired place to live: art and art education.
