On December 7th, 2021 Ingolf Wunder appeared as a pianist and a public speaker at the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations’ IGF (Internet Governance Forum) in Katowice, Poland. After such prominent preceding speakers as the Secretary-General of the UN and the Under-Secretary-General of the UN, the President of Poland, the Prime Minister of Poland and the Former Secretary of State, Ingolf Wunder had a 15-minute-long piano performance followed by his 15-minute-long speech on importance of quality music in a quickly developing hyper-technological world full of Artificial Intelligence.
Ingolf Wunder’s speech has been translated simultaneously to Arabic, Chinese, French, Polish, Russian, Spanish and also sign language. The original language of the speech was English.
During his piano performance he presented to the international public three compositions by three important Polish composers: Fryderyk Chopin (Polonaise in A flat major Op. 53), Ignacy Jan Paderewski (Menuet in G Major, Op. 14 No. 1), Wojciech Kilar (theme from the movie “Trędowata”).
The Internet Governance Forum was established by the United Nations and is a multi stakeholder group for policy dialogue on issues of Internet governance. The stakeholders represent governments, the private sector, civil sector, technical and academic community. Its first annual meeting was in 2006. Each year it takes place in a different country of the world. Based on the final number from the UN, the latest IGF in Katowice was the biggest and most successful one: almost 2 700 participants from all over the world joined the event onsite in Katowice.
